Week 22, Day 5

On my journey to getting back to running 3 times a week, I took the dogs out for a walk again today. Each one was taken around the block once (the hard way around). So that was 1.2 miles. Then I went out and ran the easy way around. My lungs were not happy and I was breathing a little heavy. However, there was very little walking! I did much better than I had anticipated.

Just brought all the things in from outside in preparation for the T.S./Hurricane Hanna.

Week 22, Day 4

I apologize for this blog being dead for the past 3 weeks, but life has been happening and I haven't been working out. We've had a week of my DW being hospitalized, a week of trying to get caught up on life, and now another week in the hospital with a few hurricanes on the way. To be blunt life has been crazy. I wish I were good enough to use running as my stress reliever, but I'm just not there yet. I've been eating lots of junk, and too much at meal times. Eating is my stress reliever and I've been chowing on chocolate and fast food. My excuse for the fast food is that I eat on the run when DW is in the hospital.

Anyway, today I was tired of feeling fat again and I decided to take the dogs for a walk as a precursor to running again. I took the Daschund around the block the easy way, and he did great! He didn't stop in the 90 degree heat and I didn't need to pour water on him either. That was .6 miles. Then I took the Italian Greyhound out and we went on a mostly flat route which is the route I started running on awhile ago; a round trip is a mile. He made about .75 miles when he decided that he needed a break. At least I noticed before he started doing that odd squat/walk thing. After a few minute of him first laying around and then sitting, he tried to walk but even at a slow pace he seemed to be having trouble. So, I picked him up and carried him the rest of the way home. So all in all, I walked about 1.6 pretty easy miles today.

Well, time to shower, pick up something to eat, and go see my wife at the hospital.
